PREVENTING HEAT SHOCK IN PETS DURING SUMMER

Ngày đăng: 23/07/2024

1. Provide Enough Water
- Water is essential for all living beings, especially during hot days. Ensure that your dogs and cats always can access clean, cool drinking water.
- Regularly change the drinking water to maintain hygiene.
- Encourage your pets to drink more by placing multiple water bowls in different areas around the house.
- You can also add a little chicken or fish broth to the water to enhance the flavor and attract your pets to drink more.
- Use additional vitamin and essential nutrient supplements to increase your pets' heat resistance during summer, such as Five-Multivit, Five-Prozyme 5way, Five-ATP, Five-Butasal, etc.

2. Create a Cool Environment
- Keep dogs and cats indoors during the hottest parts of the day (around 10 AM to 4 PM).
- Open windows and doors to create air circulation.
- Use fans or air conditioning to cool the air.
- Place your pets' beds or mats in cool areas, away from direct sunlight.
- You can use cooling mats or stone beds to help your pets lower their body temperature.
3. Bathe Your Pets
- Bathing your pets with cool water can help them cool down.
- Avoid using cold water as it might shock them.
- After bathing, dry your pets with a soft towel.
- Do not bathe your pets too frequently as it can strip the natural oils from their skin. Ideally, bathe them every 2-3 days using natural herbal shampoos like Charmie Herbal, Charmie Lavender, Charmie Ylang Ylang or Charmie Enchanteur dry bath powder.

4. Walk Your Pets Early in the Morning or Late in the Evening
- Avoid walking your pets during the hottest times of the day as it can cause heatstroke.
- If you need to take your pets outside during the day, choose shaded areas and bring water for them to drink.
- Walk your pets on grass or sand instead of hot pavement.
- Clean your pets' paws after walks to remove dirt and sand.
5. Brush Your Pets Regularly
- Brushing your pets helps remove loose hair and keeps their bodies cooler. It also helps remove dirt and parasites from their skin.
- Brush your pets in the early morning or late evening when it's cooler.
6. Be Careful of Heat stroke Signs
- Signs of heatstroke in pets include: panting, excessive drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, seizures, and unconsciousness.
- If you notice any of these signs in your pets, take them to the veterinarian immediately.
Important Notes:
- Never leave your pets in a parked car under the hot sun, even if the windows are slightly open.
- Do not give your pets ice water as it can cause stomach pain.
- Do not use human sunscreen on your pets as it can be harmful to them.
By following these simple preventive measures, Fivevet hopes you can keep your pets cool and safe during the summer.
